Last weekend a friend was riding alone on Springbank Road, a vehicle, a car came up along side him, buzzed him dangerously, pulled right in front of him within feet at a high speed, and then slammed his brakes. At first Neal thought the guy was just a jerk, and then he really hit his brakes. Neal hit the rear of the car, going over the bars of his bike and crashing into the back of the car. Somehow he is still alive and seamingly unhurt other than emotional trauma, and some minor damage to his 2011 racing bike.
The driver, now stopped, procedes to get out and yell at Neal for "not being a taxpayer" and "having no right to ride a bike", threatening to kill him next time etc.
.. for cycling in the 'area' in question.
Neal not being a large 'tough guy' was in shock and to no surprise, did not react violently toward the motorist, yet promptly called police after the driver fled the scene; and reporting all he could.
Through Neals account, " they said they would search for him and in any case a citation would be issued". However, if the accused were to contest the citation Neal would be required to attend Court (he's self employed) and fight for his ? 'Justice ?
Judging the whole ordeal would be a 'nuisance', Neal has decided it is not worth his time to pursue such actions.
