Interesting video. I have never seen bike lanes sandwiched between the sidewalk and a row of parked cars. I would love to know what considerations went into making that disaster.
I haven't seen that type of bike lane on the streets I use in Calgary -- just the extra wide lanes that give cyclists a bigger comfort zone. Do they exist here??

Particularly loved the front tire eating road drains the bike lane traversed. Make certain you are running wide tires to cross those!
It does give an interesting perspective on some of the problems with bike lanes. My initial impression is that the one between the parked cars and sidewalk really doesn't work well for anyone even though it may have seemed like a logical idea at the time. The bike lanes adjacent to traffic lanes seem to have more trouble related to cars and trucks blocking them.
I wonder if education and enforcement as well as some time for people to adapt to the traffic-adjacent lanes would help?

the problem is the parked cars. What NYC has done is a half-assed solution, but I guess it will be easy to remove the bike lane when they decide it didn't work since cyclists aren't using it. I like how they did it in Amsterdam.

The Bus Lane is marked "BUS ONLY" but the bike lane is just marked with a bike graphic. The video seems to indicate that the cars and pedestrians do stay out of the bus lane, but they ignore the bike lane.
Maybe it's a NY cultural thing to respond to the word "ONLY" and the city should put that under the bike graphic?
