T.O.

I hadn't heard that bixi was going to Toronto. From the T.O. I remember I'm pretty surprised, but that was in the 80s. They really must have made changes to improve safety for cyclists. I remember downtown as a war zone for driving, let alone cycling. I look forward to trying it out if I visit there, would be a great way to see the city. Anybody been cycling in T.O recently?
Surprised

I too am surprised that Toronto went and got BIXI. I thought with the new mayor, "Mr. Chubby", they were dismantling anything bike related. Good for them to proceed.
Hopefully the hit the driver up with all manner of charges and costs to repair things. OK, I know, the driver got away with NO charges of any kind, just another "oops".
My view is that when there is an accident which impedes traffic in any way(and they all do), EVERYONE who has been inconvenienced should be able to file a claim for time lost, at Lawyers hourly rates.
plans in the works for awhile

One could probably find the answer buried in the City of Toronto's website or Bike T.O. website. The bike share plan had been approved probably with a signed contract with Bixi for awhile. Ford got into power shortly after our Mayor Nenshi.
I'll be going to Toronto this fall. My whole family lives there still. (I used to bike there for over 13 years and lived there even longer.)
