During this month's Critical Mass ride in New York City, an NYPD police officer violently knocked a cyclist off his bike. We know that because someone caught it on video and posted it on YouTube. The police officer has been relieved of active duty pending an investigation.
The scary part is that the police charged the cyclist with obstructing traffic and assaulting a police officer, and deliberately steering into the path of the police officer. But given what you see on the video, it looks as though the police officer filing the complaint could be found guilty of perjury.
Read the story in the Globe & Mail, and see the video there.
Hopefully our own police officers here in Calgary are a little friendlier.

Are critical mass rides in Calgary anything like that?

I have yet to ride in a CM, although I have seen a couple of notices about them on here. What are relations with the cops like?
Good Question
