We should send a congrats to Angie for this forward-thinking idea. People who make these positive impacts should be rewarded, or at least patted on the back. Kudos all around!
Shame on the Herald for the title of this article. What does it matter what they cost? What did they use before? A truck $25,000. A John Deere Gator $10,000.
When the article first went up just after 1600 yesterday, it had the same heading as the paper edition, as reported by Cword. I wonder why they felt it was necessary to change...not getting enough negative comments?
And of course, there's already one comment on the article about it being a "rip off, wasting taxpayers money". I can't tell if that comment is facetious or not.
The article even mentions how "the price tag is nothing compared to purchasing, fuelling, and maintaining a truck", yet the headline still reads pricey because "OMG, it's a bike, I can get one at Canadian Tire for like $100". Sigh.
I wonder if the headline is written by the same person who writes the article...
This is absolutely great!

The first day I was in Squamish during the para's in March, 2010, I rode into town and saw a granny riding a full DH bike at the grocery store.
I like your friend's idea!
Awesome idea but......

I swear yesterday it didn't have "pricey" in the headline.
In the print edition
Submitted by Cword on
it reads "Cochrane finds pedal power" with a sub headline that reads "Parks Trikes easy on the environment and finances"

How the press and people in general get so fussed about a couple of thousand dollars spent on a pair of ute-bikes.....
Don't you have anything more important in your life to worry about?
