Hello fellow Friends of Bike Calgary,
We are Power In Motion and, although most customers know us as the electric bike store, we have been carrying a selection of folding bikes since we opened in 2006. What does this have to do with you? We are trying to spread the word on the advantages of folding bikes to Calgarians and are offering Friends of Bike Calgary a 10% discount on these bikes until Aug. 31st (in addition to the usual 15% off acessories all year round).
We have just received a large order of Montague folding urban and mountain bikes. For those of you unfamiliar with them, Montagues are American designed, extremely well built, full-sized bikes. With each having the best of both portability and performance, we have both styles that they offer; the Paratrooper and X50 mountain bikes and the Boston 8 and Crosstown commuter/city bikes (click for more info).
Also, due to the amazing response, we will be receiving a resupply of the smaller TERN folding bikes next week. For those of you who would like to be able to carry a folding “bike in a bag” onto the bus or C-Train, this one is for you (click for more info)!

How is this related to bike advocacy in the city?
discounts to this group
Submitted by PowerInMotion on
Our previous post has now been slightly edited. In our excitement to get the news out (and trying to keep things brief) we left out the mention of discounts to this group.
As a long term member of Bike Calgary we have supported many of the issues that this organisation has brought to the attention of the public. We are also trying to do our part to help by providing members with the above mentioned discounts while hoping that they in turn will help us to get the word out about the many bike options (like folding bikes and electric peddle-assist) that may reduce some barriers to other's enjoyment of biking.
Cheers,
PowerInMotion

If you need to purchase lumber, you go to the lumber store.
If you need to purchase a bike, you go to the bike store.
If you need to purchase a recumbent bike, you go to the recumbent bike store.
commerical advertising

I thought bike calgary was a non-profit advocacy organization. Why is commercial advertising allowed on the forums?
We've always allowed

We've always allowed announcements from local independent retailers: they are an important part of Calgary's cycling community. Some of them (Power in Motion included) also support Bike Calgary as sponsors and/or partners in our "Friends of Bike Calgary" program.

Wizbiz:
We are offering speical discount to member of BikeCalgary ONLY, and no one else. If everyone felt that we are too commerical in this one-time offering, or that we are inappropriate in the buy/sell forum. I would like to ask the forum moderator to remove this entry immediately.
