Hi Guys,
I am looking for XC mountainbiker partners to go regularly training during the week (after 5pm). I am pretty fast.
I plan to go to Noth Hill, Silverthorn park, Bowness park... and later when less snow Kananaskis. Could also be interested in races.
Chris,
p.s. am on University Calgary area and new in Calgary

If you want to hammer out some miles in advance of the main mtn biking season, consider joining a club that has a racing team. Deadgoat comes to mind. They will organize group rides, and if you want to race they can get you set up with team kit, UCI license, etc.
Also, consider training on the road. The main mtn biking trails won't dry out until mid-May, and riding Nose Hill and Sideshow 6 days/week gets real old, real fast. From the U of C there are many in-town and out-of-town rides you can do that will get you 2-3 hours of saddle time during the week.

Road riding will open up quite a few more riding options to you, as well as cycling buddies. You'll find, in general, that quite a few of the "faster" guys ride everything from their commuters, 'cross bikes, MTB, and road... often all in the same week.
If you talk to Kurt or John at Bow Cycle down in Bowness they might be able to suggest a few contacts for riding clubs.

I would recommend against joining deadgoat, unless your a fan of having a bunch of old men hand you your ass on a weekly basis.

you're right, I was probably thinking of my own ambitions vis-a-vis abilities.
Don't count out the Deadgoaters

They have both a race and a ride side. Some members do like to just get out there. And they are a great bunch to hang out with.
