We are putting out a call for 4-5 experienced commuter cyclists to participate as "students" in the dry run of BikeCalgary's one-day commuter cyclist course, to be held Saturday June 11th . Ideal candidates will have already completed CAN-BIKE 1 & 2 courses, or have a number of years of experience riding on-street - and be comfortable riding on busy streets downtown.
Just to refresh yourself, you can take the BikeEd.org Traffic Skills 101 on-line test (say that you are from Calgary, Alabama) and view the League of American Bicyclists 3-part Cyclist's Eye View series demonstrating effective on-street cycling techniques: Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3. Also, study the Bicycling Street Smarts manual.
The dry-run session will run from 9:00 to 16:30 at Mountain Equipment Co-op, on 10 Ave at 8 St SW, and it will run rain or shine, so you will need to dress accordingly. The actual training course will commence on Saturday, June 25th, at the same location. Details will be forthcoming shortly.
If you are interested, please let us know in the comments, or contact ride 'at' bikecalgary.org.
[EDIT: start time changed to 9:00]
