A traffic light was recently installed at the intersection of 21St and Kensington Rd. NW. There was a pedestrian signal there before. The new light is quite nice as it is activated via the camera type sensors and a bike trips the signal change.
Today I noticed a stencil on the road. It was in the shape of a cyclist, but much smaller than the usual stencils and it was over in the gutter near the corner. There seems to be one on the southbound lane as well. They look like they have been there for a little while. I am not sure what these are supposed to mean. Any ideas?

I believe those little "gutter bikers" are where you are suppose to go so the camera can "sense" your presense and change the light for you.
I am glad to see that the city has upgraded that intersection since that is the most direct route between 5th ave nw and the bike bridge over memorial.
Really?

Really? I can't think of a worse spot to sit if you are waiting to go straight through an intersection. That sux.

That's a loop detector. If they're not in through position, we should have the City move them. Ca you take pictures?
