Help: Chaparral to East Foothills Industrial Park (wrangler way)

I'm glad that I found this place.

I'm new to biking and really want to get in better shape.  Why sit in a for 1.5hrs a day when I could be riding my bike??

I'm trying to map out an appropriate pathway to work.   I work in Wrangler Industrial park which is just east of 84th St. Just outside of city limits.  I never would have thought that it would be possible to bike to work as there are lots of huge trucks in this part of town.  However, I noticed that there is a canal that runs right into the area and this canal has a bike path along side of it.  PERFECT!

But not so fast.  Upon further investigation of the route and bike paths, I see that I will run into problems if I try to take 52st north onto the canal path as 52st is closed while they put in a new bridge.  I got the whole route planned perfectly but am hung up on how best to access the canal.

Any suggestions?

Bit confused...

I'm a bit confused why you need to use 52 Street? http://g.co/maps/jwvna combined with the detour Richard posted above.

If you are uncomfortable riding on the roads the maps suggest, I would suggest taking the One-Day Urban Cycling Skills Course in June. http://bikecalgary.org/skills

Or look at taking CAN-BIKE 1 through Safer Cycling Calgary (longer, but less intense road situations). http://safercyclingcalgary.ca

Kudos

I think kudos are in definitely order for boosterjuice taking on a fairly long cycle commute after 12 years off a bike. Great job, and keep us posted on your rides in the "How was your ride" forum. Looking forward to hearing more from you about this route!

Please, also contact 311 and

Please, also contact 311 and especially your alderman and tell them you want safe and efficient way to reach work from your home by bicycle and accommodations during construction! Instructions here: http://bikecalgary.org/helpcycling

Things will only get better if City Council knows that people want it to get better. And that's doubly true for the aldermen of outlying wards such as yours.
