Gotta' Question

Do you think that "just" stop signs on the N&S bound traffic on 8th is enough, or is there something that could be done to improve this?

I think that there should be something more to protect cyclists, like "Yield to Cyclists" signs or something.  That place is awkward (I've said that before!) and I did notice that the City wants to take out that stupid bush on the N side that obstructs your view.  It's a first step, I would use this more if things were better.

"by others"?

Do the "by others" comments in the "design" PDF mean that stuff is going in, or that they're "considering the proposal by others" to put those in....? Looks like a good improvement to me, although I'm not a daily user of that. But with pedestrian ramps that don't line up to the pathway this seems at least better in that way.

The only way I could think to give more visual incentive to stop would be to have a couple meters of "proto-road" where the pathway becomes road-level with it's own stop-sign, make it a 4-way stop. However, this would probably be a "lose" for pedestrians and a "yield to cyclists" sign is a lot cheaper :)

Not done but definitely an improvement

This morning I didn't have to ride on the grass, dodge the concrete bollards or hop the curb to cross 8th Street.  There is a nice wide paved transition to the street, just have to look for traffic still as no signs have been erected just yet.

It was still blocked off yesterday, had to ride on the grass to the left to get around the construction/warning tape.  Making good progress daily though.

Open for riding

It's open now. It's actually a nice transition from the road to the pathway. I'm glad it's done as I don't think the grass was looking to well after having many bikes ride over it.
