I ride 10th St NW (northbound) home on work days.  While I love the dedicated bike lane, it doesn't have to be as wide.  Half the width would be good enough.  If the lanes were half width on both sides there could almost be another vehicle lane going southbound.  I think motorists would be happier with this arrangement..
