I am an older bike mechanic who is down-sizing, and I have for sale my VAR Bottom Bracket Pilot Taps and Facing Tool.
They are in excellent condition, and comparable to Park Tool’s “BTS-1”, which lists for $890 in the Norco catalogue (viewable at http://www.parktool.com/product/bottom-bracket-tapping-facing-set-bts-1 ), with the exception that my set features both thread standards, English and Italian, PLUS a spare set of each, and THREE facing cutters instead of just a single one, packed in a metal box.
Note that to duplicate my VAR set with a Park BTS-1, you would also need to purchase an additional pair of right- and left-threaded English taps (Park Tool #’s 691 & 692; @ $339.00 each) and 2 pairs of Italian-threaded taps (Park Tool # 693; 4 @ $451.00 each), and two extra facing cutters (Park Tool # 690; @ $185.90 each): aside from the $890 for the BTS-1, all the extras would list for another $2859.20, or $3749.20 for everything. My VAR set would be an ideal acquisition for a shop wishing to equip for a full service capability, and I’ve priced my set to move: the first $500 takes it all. Too bad I bought the BTS-1 a couple weeks ago. Do you have a HT facing tool?

Nothing else to sell, apart from these; I've sold my HT reaming-and-facing tools and crown race cutters already. I'm not leaving the bike business for a long while yet, though, and still need everything else. If you know anyone that's also in the downhill ski business, I would be interested in swapping for two pairs of Rossi S3's (165's and 186's), less bindings.
