Volunteers wanted: Be a voice for your community!

Bike Calgary is looking for members who are passionate about cycling to become involved in the organization as Community Representatives. As an official advocate for Bike Calgary, you will act as a two-way voice for communicating cycling knowledge between the organization and your community (whether that’s where you live, work, play, or where your kids go to school).

Why should you become a Community Representative for Bike Calgary?

  • you want to help people start cycling for transportation, or help people cycle more often
  • you want to be a beacon of cycling information for your community
  • you want to help Bike Calgary understand the needs of cyclists in your area (e.g., where it needs better infrastructure, education, enforcement etc.)
  • you are passionate about transportation cycling in Calgary and want to make our city a better place to live, work and play!

Community Representatives work about five to ten hours per month on various projects and advocacy efforts – much of this work will be self-directed. We provide some training, lots of support, and we think we’re a fun group to work with! If you’re interested in volunteering this fall, please contact Ben Cowie (ward8@bikecalgary.org) before September 30, 2012. Our first training session will run in early October.

Me!

Hi Bill -- I am the Ward 1 coordinator if you want to drop me a line. I am somewhat familiar with your neighbourhood as I work at the U of C, and I often commute through your community to get there.  Would be very interested to chat with you. Drop me a line, if you like, by using the contact tab on my profile.
