It's that time of year again! Calgary will be participating in our third official year of the Vélo Canada Bikes Pedal Poll / Sondo Vélo happening between June 4th - June 9th and we need your help to count. The sites have been chosen and dates will be Tuesday, June 4th and Saturday, June 8th but may shift to another day in the week based on weather and smoke conditions. If you have flex days or are looking for a way to help the biking community and participate as a citizen scientist, sign up now! As a focus community, we will be coordinating a "snap shot" across the city in multiple locations, with counters at each location throughout the day. Did you know that the 3rd Avenue mobility lanes might be removed this fall? Bike Calgary is seeking a network of volunteers to help us bring awareness of how important this connection is within our downtown. Do you have a few hours to spare this summer? Join us in the fight to save the 3rd Ave SW Mobility lanes.  Join our efforts! International Winter Bike (to Work) Day is back, and has a whole new look and feel for 2023! Because bikes aren't just for work, Bike Calgary is holding our event on Saturday, February 11th in conjunction with the global Ride Together Day. Instead of our traditional breakfast, we are encouraging all Calgarians to get out and bike to multiple locations. Our partners from previous events are still involved, but in most cases, you will be going to visit them, with goodies along the way and lots of prizes up for grabs. Volunteer Between June 7-12, 2022, volunteers in communities across the country will participate inCanada’s national bike count. Vélo Canada Bikes, local advocacy organizations, and localgovernment will be able to use the data in their work to make cycling a part of theirtransportation and recreation networks. Bike Calgary is pleased to announce that Calgary has been selected as a focus city this year! We have finalized our count location details and the volunteer sign up is now open on Vélo Canada Bikes website. Please note that you will not have the ability to volunteer for a specific location or time slot, nor have we confirmed an official count date within the week. Ward reps are Bike Calgary’s vital links to Calgary’s communities. They serve as points of contact for cyclists in Calgary’s neighborhoods, and alert the Bike Calgary’s Board of Directors or Infrastructure Task Group to cycling-related issues in their areas. Ward and community reps can also be Bike Calgary’s representatives at organization such as large employers or one of Calgary’s colleges or universities. They work with the Board, the city, community associations, and councillors to resolve issues and to improve cycling in Calgary’s communities. Winter Bike Day Wrap Up and Raffle Winners

A huge thank you to all that came out to celebrate winter biking in Calgary this year! We had a lovely dusting of snow to start the event, followed by a gorgeous sunny day, so ideal for winter riding. While we never caught up to the Swedes, we finished in 14th place in the Winter Bike to Work online competition, even though we know from our inner city bike counters we would have topped them all ;) We have two prize packs including a $25.00 Sidewalk Citizen Gift Card, a Winter Cycling Congress T-Shirt and a copy of Streetfight.
