Volunteering
More volunteers means we can get more done! We have all kinds of opportunities. Email volunteer@bikecalgary.org and let’s find one that fits you. November 2022 - Urgent Call Our most urgent one-time volunteer need is for the 2023-2026 City of Calgary Budget Sessions. Council is meeting November 21-25 to decide the City budget priorities for the next four years. Bike Calgary wants to make sure Council hears loud and clear that Active Transportation is a priority for Calgarians. There are a couple of options to do this: Send a message to your City Councilor as per: URGENT CALL-OUT: November 21-25 is budget week at the City of Calgary – Let your voices be heard! – Bike CalgarySpeak directly to Council in support of Active Transportation during their public hearings -…

URGENT CALL-OUT: November 21-25 is budget week at the City of Calgary – Let your voices be heard!

Volunteering
The City of Calgary has plans and the City of Calgary has policies. But will they follow them? Only if they show up in the budget! This opportunity only comes around once every 4 years. Starting on November 21, Council will be debating the proposed 4-year budget. It has not yet been released but should be in the coming days or weeks. How can you help? We strongly encourage you to send your Councilor a quick note (<-click the link) today. Let them know that you'll be watching to see how much they allocate to improving active transportation infrastructure such as separated bike lanes, 5A (Always Available for All Ages and Abilities) Network, protected intersections, scooting, wheel-chairing, stroller-ing, bike racks, etc. Throw in a few words that make it an important issue…

Ward Lead and Ward Representative Openings

Ward Lead and Ward Representative Openings

Volunteering
Ward representatives are Bike Calgary’s vital links to Calgary’s communities.  They serve as points of contact for cyclists in Calgary’s neighborhoods, and also alert the Bike Calgary’s Task groups and Board of Directors to cycling-related issues in their areas. Ward reps can also be Bike Calgary’s representatives at organization such as large employers or one of Calgary’s colleges or universities.  This role represents the heart of the community, with passion and local knowledge about the issue both daily and in planning for events, community associations and local business. The Ward Representatives are supported by the Bike Calgary Task Groups and the Board, providing advocacy, support, resource and connections to councilors to highlight and help resolve issues, and to improve cycling in Calgary’s communities. We currently have leadership openings in Ward 14,…

We are looking for two new writers for the newsletter. Content comes from the Board, the Infrastructure Task Group, our Ward Leads, and Events Coordinator. The newsletter volunteers just have to put some nice words around the topics, format it, and send it to the Board for approval. Here is an example of our Spring 2018 newsletter.
