Bike Calgary is working to set up consistent, ongoing funding so that we can afford to complete more advocacy work and education for cyclists in Calgary. Ultimately, we’d like sufficient ongoing, reliable funding so that we can hire a part-time Executive Director to really represent Calgary’s cycling community.
We have two volunteer activities to help us reach this goal – one or two people to coordinate our annual fund raising event and YYC Bike Awards for September 2019, and a few volunteers to help with our corporate donations work including organizing advertising for our sponsors.

Fund Raising Volunteers – Starting May 1, 2019
These volunteer positions (up to four volunteers required) will report to Garry Lohuis, VP Bike Calgary, who is currently leading the business fund raising efforts. Corporate fund raising for Bike Calgary falls into 2 main categories:
- Corporate Donations
- Advertising on the website
Time Commitment: approx. 6 hours per month
These volunteer positions would appeal to semi-retired or retired members who are able to meet with potential business owners and advertisers in regular business hours. This a great opportunity to take advantage of your previous business contacts. These positions may also appeal to unemployed or underemployed members who may be looking to establish networking business contacts to further their careers. Support for website advertising is mostly about setting up pricing and commitments to sponsors – technical website ability is not a requirement (we have someone helping with this part of it).
Previous experience is not required and Garry is willing to work with volunteers to match their time availability.
