- Date: Sept. 8, 2023 (Friday)
- Time/Program: Doors open at 6:30 PM. Movie will start at 7 pm so please make sure to arrive before then. Following the film we will have a panel discussion. One of our panelists is Tom Babin (YouTube: Shifter) so feel free to check him out if you haven’t done so. We will then close the event with prizes!
- Location: Calgary Central Library – Patricia Whalen Performance Theatre
- Event info: The Downtown Core Neighbourhood Association and Bike Calgary present the first Calgary screening of the film, “The Engine Inside“, followed by a panel discussion. This is a free event, but please register by visiting the Eventbrite page to reserve your spot, and to get event updates!
- Movie info: The Engine Inside follows six everyday people from vastly different worlds who dedicate their lives to a simple 200-year-old machine. Their trials and tribulations reveal the bicycle’s unique power to change lives and help build a better world. Covering many different global issues—from climate change and indigenous trauma to socio-economic inequality and more livable cities —The Engine Inside sparks hope and agency in everyone it touches. Everyone is welcome but please note that the movie is rated PG 13.
- Organizer info: The Downtown Core Neighbourhood Association is a volunteer run organization that brings people together to be a voice for a connected and thriving downtown community. Bike Calgary is a volunteer run organization that advances cycling as a form of active mobility. Bike Calgary strives toward equitable access to cycling.
Getting to the Venue:

- Transit: Bus routes stop on 3 Street SE and on 9 Avenue SE.T he closest CTrain stop is City Hall, on both the Red and Blue lines.
- Car: There is parking in the City Hall parkade, paid parking lots on the east side of the Library, and paid street parking in the East Village.
