North east Greenway seems destined to be the most expensive unusable pathway in Calgary. Pathway has been completely dug up down to about 20-30 feet deep west of 15st ne.
Pathway pavement buckled at cityscape. Several foot high mound of bent pavement due to heavy equipment destroying it. Completely torn up for several miles.
Since Calgary advertised the incomplete Greenway it has spent more time being torn up or closed than it has been open. Still cannot cycle the Greenway around Calgary. Expect it to be closed for many more years due to suburban sprawl construction.
The City’s lack of concern for the pathway infrastructure is evident from posts like these. We it’s annoying when cycling infrastructure is built then demolished. This happened to the rest end of the 22 ave cycle track east of Olympic way. They your it up and now reroute cyclists into busy streets and pedestrian only infrastructure.
I meant to type on my tiny phone “12 Ave cycle track”, not 22 Ave. They tear it up and now reroute cyclists on busy roads to a “dismount and walk section. I sometimes wonder if the people who make these decision ever ride bikes?
