Upcoming Events

Gear Up! Tuesday, July 22

The Bike Calgary Advocacy Committee will be hosting Gear Up! Your Civics and Cycling Toolkit, an interactive info session, on July 22. We’re looking ahead to the municipal election this October, and we feel that the most impactful thing we can do as a committee to advocate for active transportation in Calgary is to mobilize as many of you all as possible to advocate with us. The goal of the event is to equip everyone who attends with the tools they need to make sure their voice is heard leading up to the election.

The event will include information, exercises, and opportunities to brainstorm as well as to connect with other community members and groups, and discuss what matters most to you in this upcoming election. Best of all, we’ll also be providing food and Bike Valet!

Whether you’re just wondering which candidates running in your ward have included active transportation in their platforms, or looking to host a roundtable discussion with all your neighbors, we’ll help get you feeling curious, confident, and connected to the process, so that when October 20th comes, you’ll be ready.

This is a free event, but registration is strongly encouraged. Registration and more information can be found here

BikeFest 2025 Summary

June 2025 was our second annual BikeFest, when people got out on bikes to celebrate getting around by bicycle! Whether it was filling out our month-long bike bingo, helping Urban Explorer with his ParticipACTION bid, attending one of the 9 community events featured on our calendar, or coming to our screening of the film MOTHERLOAD, we hope you had as much fun as we did. See a collection of photos from the month below!

Thank you as well to our partners who provided support for the film screening:
  • Downtown Core Neighbourhood Association
  • Two Wheel View
  • Canadian Heritage Roasting
  • Amego
  • MEC
  • Ridley’s Cycle

A big thank you to those of you who took advantage of Bike Calgary’s Bike Valet service at the June 29 film screening – we hope it gave you comfort knowing that your ride was safe and secure. Look for future Bike Valet offerings as we work on expanding our service. If you want to provide us with feedback on the Bike Valet or BikeFest generally, our survey is still open—feel free to answer the questions most relevant to you.

Call for New Board Members Bike Calgary currently has a few open spots on our Board of Directors that we are looking to fill. If you have some spare time and energy, we would like to talk about how you could help build our organization to support cycling in Calgary. Prior board experience is not required. Please reach out to us at connect@bikecalgary.org

Infrastructure Update – New Pathways Coming to Your Area? The City of Calgary has updated their website with a list of multi-use pathway projects that are expected to be built in 2025. This is in addition to other programs such as Main StreetsDowntown StrategyBridge Rehabilitation, and Major Road Reconstruction, and others that are adding infrastructure to the network. These projects were made possible by advocacy from Bike Calgary and other community partners that led to funding being added to the 2023-2026 budget cycle for building out the 5A network. Check out the list to see if there is a missing connection being built in your area!

Thanks for reading, and happy cycling.
