Do you know someone who deserves to be recognized for their work and talent? Someone who exemplifies the spirit of bicycling in Calgary? Someone who helps people get on a bike and ride, or makes all our rides better?

Nominate them for an award!

Lawrence Hong Advocacy Award

Lawrence was a tireless advocate for all modes of transportation, and volunteered with Calgary Car Share, Arusha Open Streets, Bike Calgary, Cyclepalooza and countless others. Lawrence would have gone on to do great things for the City of Calgary, but his time was cut short. This award is presented in Lawrence’s memory to an individual or organization that has gone above and beyond to promote cycling in Calgary.

Commuter of the Year

This award is presented to an individual whose determination and dedication to use the bicycle as a mode of transportation and serves as an inspiration and role model to others within the city. This is an award for a dedicated individual who continually puts one pedal forward.

Business of the Year

This award is presented to a local business that has made an exceptional effort to make their business or business practices more bicycle friendly. This can include making it easy for customers arriving by bike, using cycling messengers, offering pool bikes for staff, hosting bike skills classes, providing safe bike parking and shower facilities, participating in Bike to Work Day and Commuter Challenge, and promoting and supporting cycling events amongst other initiatives.

School of the Year

This award is presented to a school that promotes cycling among its staff and students. This can include bicycle education for its students and staff, the promotion of healthy transportation choices and designated bicycle facilities and storage.
