The Inglewood BIA is celebrating their fourth annual Car Free Sunday on September 8th within the Inglewood neighbourhood, encouraging residents and visitors to embrace walking, cycling, and utilizing public transportation.
The main artery of Inglewood (9 Ave. SE from 11 St. to 14 St.) will be closed to all vehicles from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Businesses will extend their storefronts to the sidewalk and street to experience Calgary’s original main street. Visitors can enjoy live music, street performances, dining on expanded patios, workshops, demonstrations, and plentiful sidewalk shopping at some of the city’s finest local retailers.

This initiative is to provide awareness and inspiration on promoting a healthier lifestyle within the Inglewood neighbourhood by reducing traffic congestion, lowering pollution levels, and supporting environmental sustainability. Car Free Day is a global movement promoting environmental sustainability, encouraging motorists to give up their cars for a day. Calgarians and visitors are encouraged to stroll and roll throughout the historic Inglewood neighbourhood and the heart of Calgary’s Music Mile, while supporting over 240 local businesses.
