UPDATE THURSDAY FEB 13, 2025: It’s going to be cold on Saturday, but the event is still on! Dress warmly, pack layers, get multi-modal by making use of transit, or just show up for the film screening portion! Looking forward to seeing you! Here are some winter riding tips from Bike Calgary and some tips from the City of Calgary!
When: Saturday February 15, 2025
Where: At many Hot Spots around Calgary!
Winter Bike Day is back on Saturday February 15, 2025, this year with a film screening and community gathering at 3pm! Get on your bike and fill out your bingo cards for your chance to win some awesome prizes! Then gather with the community for a film screening, prize draw, and exciting conversation.
Overview of the Day
Things are a bit different this year! Here’s a rundown of all that’s happening:
- 7am on: Bike bingo at a number of Hot Spots around the city. This part is similar to other years. Pick up a bingo card at one of the spots, and get a stamp for every one you visit. Each stamp is one entry in the prize draw. Note that not all Hot Spots are open for the same hours, so make sure to plan your route accordingly. See below for more info.
- 3pm: Free film screening and prize draw at Alexandra Hall in Inglewood. New this year, you need to be present at the Hall in order to be entered in the prize draw! We’ll be screening the film ‘Cycling Without Age’ in partnership with the Cycling Without Age local Calgary chapter. This will be followed by a panel discussion and the prize draw.
- ~4pm: Community gathering at Alexandra Hall with snacks and great conversation. Hear a bit about what the Bike Calgary Advocacy Team has been up to in the lead up to the 2025 civic election. And then meet those local bike people you follow on Bluesky or X!
Bike Bingo
To join the bingo fun, visit any one of the Hot Spots to pick up your Winter Bike Day Passport. Each Hot Spot you visit will earn you a stamp. Many places will have free treats to hand out as well (think cookies, coffee, hot chocolate…). For every stamp you have, you will get one entry into a draw for prizes. Prizes include helmets, gift cards, snacks, clothing, bike accessories, and more! New this year, the prizes will be given out live on location, so make sure you’ve kept your bingo card and you show up to the film screening (more details below).
E-bikes and multi-modal transport are strongly encouraged, as we want you to get the most out of the day from wherever you are in the city. Check out the map below, with some suggested routes!
Here’s the list of locations and hours to help you plan your day. But please note that you need to submit your bingo card between 2:30pm and 3pm at the film screening, and be present in order to win a prize.
