Bike Calgary is honoured to support the Exercise Freedom Together campaign, inviting Canadians to celebrate their freedom by participating in an exercise challenge. All donations will benefit the Field of Crosses charity.
Field of Crosses honours the brave Southern Albertans who sacrificed their lives in active combat, displaying 3,500 white crosses annually at Calgary’s Field of Crosses Memorial Park during the weeks leading up to Remembrance Day. Each cross bears the name of a Southern Albertan who lost their life fighting for freedom. By participating in the Exercise Freedom Together campaign, you can help keep this tradition going.
We therefore challenge you to ride 3 kms or more leading up to remembrance day on the 11th November, wear a poppy and send us your pictures and post them on Facebook, Twitter and/or Instagram of you and your squad biking three kilometers. This can be on an indoor exercise machine, on your local street or on our pathway system. Make sure to use the following tags @Exercisefreedomtogether and #Exercisefreedomtogether so that your involvement can be shared on social media. Challenge friends and family to participate as well! If you wish, post pictures of your family in active service as well. Exercise Freedom Together asks single participants to donate $5 and ‘squads’ (groups of up to five people) to donate $25.
The Field of Crosses relies upon generous donations from Albertans. Please help us help them to maintain this important event.
Over recent months, many of us have felt a limited sense of freedom or control. We want this socially-distanced fundraiser to bring people together by getting them outside and active.
We encourage you to participate in honor of those who have fallen while wearing the Canadian uniform.
The campaign will run from now to November 11 2020.
