The Mad Max Ride is a FREE critical mass, post-apocalyptic themed ride featuring music, art, costume and motion.

The ride is inclusive so all ages who ride bikes, rollerblade, use a scooter or skateboard are invited. This ride is particularly timely in light of new safety rules approved by City Council allowing more types of users on the cycle tracks. The post apocalyptic theme is a fun way to encourage participants to make creative costumes and decorate their wheels from reclaimed materials.

Leading up to the ride, we will be hosting a number of workshops where participants will be able to make their own costumes and decorations with instruction from local artists and makers. We encourage musical entries making use of special bike trailers and cargo bikes. The ride will roll through the inner city utilizing pathways all while showcasing our active transport parade to Calgarians. Finally, our ride will end at Sled Island’s Block Party in Inglewood – an all ages, free music event. We’re getting local businesses to participate too and encouraging them to sponsor entries. There will be prizes for best costumes and best decorated wheels, best engineered entry, best musical entry, etc!
