Volunteers Needed for Stephen Avenue Redesign Survey

Stephen Avenue is one of Calgary’s most iconic, busiest, and recognizable streets. The stretch of 8th Avenue SW from Olympic Plaza to 11th Street SW is known for its retail spaces, restaurants, historic buildings, cultural spaces, cycling infrastructure, and top-notch people watching. The City of Calgary is undertaking a redesign of Stephen Avenue to maximize its potential and draw visitors above and beyond the downtown lunch crowd.

The redesign process includes a survey of public space and public life on Stephen Avenue and the City of Calgary and Gehl and Urban Strategy are looking for volunteers to help collect survey responses. There are three time slots on both Thursday, August 15th and Saturday, August 17th as well as a volunteer training session on Wednesday, August 14th. Please see the attached handout for exact times and details.

Survey results will help build a baseline and accurate picture of Stephen Avenue’s public life and will provide critical information for the future redesign.
