Bike Calgary, in partnership with Youth En Route, has distributed a survey regarding active transportation to all Mayoral and Ward candidates for the 2021 election. Bike Calgary is hosting its Annual General Meeting on Saturday, October 23rd, 10:00am to noon. While we were hoping to host an in-person event soon, this fall doesn't appear to be the time, so we will be on Zoom again. This AGM, we will be hearing about the previous year, enjoying a couple of guest speakers talking about the City's infrastructure work over the previous year and about bike theft, and finally electing several new board members. Please join us to find out what's going on around cycling in Calgary and to contribute to selecting the board members who will guide Bike Calgary over the next year. Bike Calgary’s first live event in 18 months!

Bike Calgary will be participating in Sustainable Calgary's Pop-Up series at the Heritage LRT station on Thursday, September 2, 2021 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. We will be giving away some of our older style t-shirts and new 2021 City of Calgary pathway maps. Garry Lohuis, the Acting President, will be on hand to answer any questions about the annual meeting and election of directors in October and any other issues affecting cycling in Calgary that you would like to discuss. Each year 1.6 million Canadians report unmet mental health care needs, and the demand for services has escalated due to the pandemic. Earth Hour – March 27th

Between 8.30pm and 9.30pm on March 27th is Earth Hour in YYC. Now this might not be a prime-time cycling hour there are things that our environmentally friendly activity can do to contribute. So: make a pledge through social media to #EarthHourYYC and #500ClimatePledge to share your pledge message. This will also enter you into a draw of a $500 to spend at local businesses! Use that hour to consider how you travel. Is there a chance to leave the car behind and use public transport and a bike (generally know as trip-chaining) or just roll there on your two wheeled machine! Included in some of these sessions will be an opportunity to share insight and perspectives on how multi-user pathways are integrated into the Green Line project.
