The Calgary Police Service (CPS) has partnered with Bike Index, a free, online bike registration service, to aide in returning stolen bikes recovered by the CPS back to their rightful owners. https://www.calgary.ca/cps/public-services/bike-index.html At the moment around 12% of bikes get recovered and a key step to reuniting them with their owners is to identify them. By registering you will also add a deterrent to bike thieves in knowing that resale will be more difficult. So what do you need to do? Find your bikes serial number, usually located on the underside of your bike. Yes, Calgary is the first Canadian City to rack up 1 million rides on rental e-scooters! Using the city's shared cycling and pathway infrastructure, the popular electric scooters have ridden more per-vehicle, per-day than another other city in the world for one of the providers, Lime. This year has seen Lime, Bird and now Roll join the popular e-scooter rental market here in Calgary, demonstrating that mobility rental is a popular choice for Calgarians. From 7am tomorrow morning until end of day Thursday, the Peace Bridge will be closed for routing maintenance. Diversions will be posted as advised by the City's communications team. Options to cross are; under Crowchild Trail; under the LRT adjacent to 10th Ave; Princes Island by Sunnyside Bank Park or under Centre Street Bridge (which is closed to cars at the moment!) The City's Green Line Committee will be meeting again on June 1 and will have a public feedback component. More information of this expansion project can be seen here: https://engage.calgary.ca/greenline or through this website https://www.projectcalgary.org/ On June 15th and pending approval at the Green Line Committee meeting on June 1, the updated Stage 1 alignment will proceed to City Council for final approval. Head’s up Calgary Glenmore Trail Causeway users!

The City of Calgary has notified us that the Glenmore Trail SW Causeway will be closed on June 1st for 5 days due to essential works to the storm water. Unfortunately they are unable to provide a signed pathway detour but crossing Glenmore Trail and using the Elbow Dam route may be an option. Cyclists support for Social Distancing

As part of our public and civil duty we are all to adhere to the current requirements and recommendations of the Governments and their agents. Not following these actually put you, your loved ones and those in the communities risk. Social distancing is a required to reduce the risk of spreading the virus to others. But for the cyclists of Calgary what does that mean? Firstly well done to the City of Calgary for widening certain recognized popular routes by shutting down vehicle lanes and deliberately not publishing them as this will just attract more people.
