It seems much too quiet on the boards. Has everyone ridden off to warmer climes? It is officially warm and sloppy out there!
The paved detour at the south end of the Crowchild ped bridge is back in effect. Same configuration as last winter. Didn’t see a projected re-open date.
Some nice riding over the last week. On the way home after dark this evening, I was chugging up a hill and could hear someone yelling ‘Get out of the way! Get out of the way! I got no brakes!!” Then this fool comes zipping past without any lights, making for the express line at the Darwin Awards counter. From the glimpse I got, It looked like a bike that could use an owner, and a rider who needs some common sense.
No pathway clearing on my route…the studded tires went on the bike last night, which I appreciated while dealing with the frozen ruts this morning! The weather carrot being offered later this week will cure the worst of the woes!
And please dig out your LIGHTS and check the batteries.
But 24 hours later, I am taking the bus. If I wanted this much smoke, I would have bought a pipe.
It was indeed the best ride of the year. Pathways were pretty quiet too. Studded tires long since given their summer holidays, although I did hear a pair of them on Tuesday.
this is the paved pathway (looking N-downhill) along the E side of Shag golf course, connecting 24 ST SW to the railway crossing (200 m W of Crowchild trail).
Sorry about the image size; seems to default to this. Hints welcomed to provide a better consumer experience . thx.
from this morning …
I tried it last week, but it was too mushy for my liking; turned around and headed up to 24th street.
With the paved path up to 12th Ave doing reasonable imitation of a set of class 1 water rapids this afternoon, it will be full ‘glacier mode’ in the morning if it freezes!
On the way home tonight, the barriers for the detour at the Pumphouse Theatre were removed and pathway was open. The few icy spots on the path will help to keep your mind focused….
The south side of the Bow River pathway is fully open at the Crowchild bridge. Detour at Pumphouse still in effect.
From my 311 inquiry, I learned that the detour at the Pumphouse Theatre is supposed to be completed by mid to late November…. don’t think I’ll beleive it until it happens.
