The Edmonton Trail (4th St. E) south pathway underpass is finally open.
South pathway – I rode through yesterday afternoon, and the gates are now open on both ends. There is a little mud and gouged pavement where the ice flows were.
took a look today – there is signage closing the pathway between the weir (next to Deerfoot Tr overpass) and 17 Avenue.
The pathway between the Zoo and Nose Creek was open, with no signs or barriers in sight, so I assume the work was completed.
I headed down to the same area today and the pathway was closed (east of Zoo to Nose creek), so I see now on the City pathway closures page:
“BOW RIVER PATHWAY – BRIDGELAND – ZOO AREA
Purpose Closed for installation of an anchor for bouys along the Bow River. Short closure window.
Start Date 5/21/2019, 12:00 AM
End Date 5/21/2019, 12:00 AM”so that’s just today, but there’s also a closure to 17ave:
“BOW RIVER PATHWAY – DEERFOOT TR. SE – WEIR AREA
Purpose Closed for annual lifecycle work throughout the park.
Start Date 5/6/2019, 12:00 AM
End Date 6/30/2019, 12:00 AM”I didn’t look too closely, but it felt pretty smooth and flat.
Because that section gets flooded/frozen/thawed during the winter, I have no idea how well it will last, depends if they improved the drainage too.Noticed last week the pathway east of the weir (on the north side of the river) has been paved.
Nice upgrade, since that section often got pretty mucky.update – South pathway ice flow still there as of this morning (Saturday). Mostly soft but there is still a sketchy sloped section of slippy ice.
yeah, now the snow is off the road the gravel is more noticeable…
rode up Quarry Trail this afternoon – some muddy spots but passable and not too soft.
how muddy/icy is Quarry Trail?
Yeah yesterday I think there was a closure near 10st but today only this one is showing (east of Peace bridge):
BOW RIVER PATHWAY – MEMORIAL DR. NW & 7 ST. NW
Purpose Closed for borehole testing along the Bow River. Work will be phased, and pathways will be closed from 9:00AM – 7:00 PM
Start Date 4/1/2019, 12:00 AM
End Date 4/7/2019, 12:00 AMNO to motorized scooters – assuming more power than e-bikes and no pedals, this is a motorbike and should not be on bike tracks/lanes/paths, especially if skateboards and other slow devices are being added. “mobility scooters” are different but, maybe need width limits.
2wheeler – good point about inline skaters – they can block a whole pathway and have to pause skating to allow a bike to pass, so on a busy bike track they may not be a good idea.
Signals – for my whole life I’ve signaled right turns with my right arm so good thing the law is catching up… 😎
I posted yesterday in the November “how was your ride” by mistake.
Saturday I found the (north) pathway between Crowchild Tr and 29 St is no longer fenced/barricaded off (the concrete barriers at 29 St are gone) but watch for rough/rutted ice in spots (not sure if the snow was cleared today).
On my run this morning I found the (north) pathway between Crowchild Tr and 29 St is no longer fenced/barricaded off! (the concrete barriers at 29 St are gone)
There is rough/rutted ice in spots, but maybe the City will clear the ice before the Monday commute?
